PROS

CONS

BOTTOM LINE

Best battery case performance we've tested so far. Good protective qualities. Premium look and feel.

Expensive

ZAAP ACTIV case offers a killer combination of good looks, increased protection, and the best battery performance for your iPhone 6.

Design and Features

ZAAP ACTIV 3.5-ounce, 6.01-by-2.79-by-0.62-inch (HWD) body is about average for regular iPhone 6 battery cases. It's not quite as heavy as battery cases with 2-in-1 designs. Our review unit's black soft-touch color option looks and feels premium. comes in two sections. The main section fits the iPhone 6, while the top section secures the phone in the case. A drop test proved that the case won't scatter when it hits a hard surface . ZAAP ACTIV battery case for iPhone 6 has packed in with some high quality features. With 3100 mAh rechargeable battery coupled 18 hours talk time or 14 hours of web browsing, the battery case packs a solid punch. It provides more than 125% extra battery life to your phone.

The 2-piece sliding design provides protection from any bumps, scratch or damage.

The sync-through technology makes it quite easy to sync it with your iPhone. There is LED indicator that keeps you informed about charging.

The battery case seems to have arrived fully prepared with more equipments and power than most other cases. If you haven’t bought a battery case, it will compel you to do so.

Performance and Conclusion

ZAAP ACTIV 3100mAh, battery gave our depleted iPhone 6 4 hours, 53 minutes of LTE video streaming time till the iOS 8 20-percent battery alert appeared, which is an excellent result. As with all our battery case tests, brightness was set to maximum, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were turned off.

Mophie Battery Case:

PROS

CONS

BOTTOM LINE

Decent battery performance. Headphone adapter included.

More Expensive

Mophie battery case for the iPhone 6 is a fairly average performer on all fronts, but some questionable design elements may deter you from buying it.

Design and Features

At 6.13 by 2.93 by 0.66 inches (HWD), Mophie's Juice Pack Plus is one of the wider battery cases we've tested so far, but by no means is it too wide. It's not quite as heavy as battery cases with 2-in-1 designs, like the Boostcase for iPhone 6, but it's not the lightest, either. The Juice Pack Plus comes in a soft-touch, rubbery-matte black plastic, glossy white, and metallic gold. Our review unit's black soft-touch color option looks and feels premium. The glossy white review unit of the Juice Pack Air (for iPhone 6 Plus) we also received doesn't look or feel cheap, but it's not as nice as the black unit's soft-touch coating.Mophie has come with two brand new iPhone 6 battery case-Juice Pack Air/ Juice Pack Plus. While Juice Pack Air delivers 100% extra battery, Juice Pack Plus gives 120% extra battery to your phone.

Performance and Conclusion

Mophie Juice Pack Plus provided our depleted iPhone 6 with 4 hours, 15 minutes of LTE video streaming time with brightness set to maximum, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned off, until the iOS 8 20-percent battery alert appeared. It's a relatively average result, but it could still give your phone enough power to stream two feature-length films, or over four hours of the 10-hour Nyan Cat YouTube video.

FEATURES:

  • 3100 mAh rechargeable battery
  • 2-piece sliding design
  • Sync-through technology

Tylt Energi Battery Case:

PROS

CONS

BOTTOM LINE

Separate shell and battery section. Premium look and feel.

Headphone extender not included. Bulkier than non-separable competitors.

The Tylt Energi Sliding Power Case for iPhone 6 is an excellent, versatile case that offers a good amount of extra battery life.

 Design and Features:

At 6.06 by 2.95 by 0.69 inches (HWD), the Energi Sliding Power Case adds more bulk to your iPhone 6 than other battery cases. And its 4.48-ounce weight nearly doubles the iPhone 6's 4.55 heft. But you can remove the Energi Sliding Power Case's 0.96-ounce shell from the battery section (or Power Sleeve, as Tylt calls its), which lets you shed the bulky 3.52-ounce battery when you don't need it. Both sections of the Energi Sliding Power Case come in a black, soft-touch, rubbery-matte plastic, which gives the case a premium look and feel. You'll find a micro USB port on the bottom edge of the Power Sleeve to charge both the case and your iPhone with the included cable. Tylt doesn't include an adapter with the case, and any headphones with connectors wider than Apple EarPods won't fit through the port.

Performance and Conclusion:

We used the Energi Sliding Power Case to charge our totally depleted iPhone 6 while streaming a YouTube video over LTE until the 20-percent battery alert popped up. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off and brightness set to maximum, the 3,200mAh Energi Sliding Power Case added 4 hours, 28 minutes of streaming time. To compare, the 2,700mAh Boostcase for iPhone 6 added 4 hours, 5 minutes.

Features:

  • 3200mAh battery
  • Dual-layer with raised lip
  • Sliding Design
  • Removable power sleeve
i-Blason Battery Case:

PROS

CONS

BOTTOM LINE

Excellent battery performance. Affordable. Includes headphone adapter.

Questionable build quality. Not terribly durable.

The i-Blason UnityPower Rechargeable External Battery Case gives your iPhone 6 lots of added battery life for a good price, but lacks in the protection department.

Design and Features:

Measuring in at 6.0 by 2.75 by 0.55 inches (HWD) and 3.68 ounces, the UnityPower adds similar bulk to your iPhone 6 as its competitors. Our black and gray review unit is clad in a soft-touch matte black plastic that doesn't feel nearly as premium as ZAAP ACTIV. The UnityPower has a frame that fits around your iPhone 6 and secures it to the main battery section. Other than claiming to be fabricated with impact-absorbing materials, the UnityPower doesn't sport any official shock-resistance standards, like the Resurgence's military-rated protection. The frame detached and scattered when we dropped the UnityPower from a height of about four feet, and the plastic surrounding the cutout for the camera broke, though it's barely noticeable.

Performance and Conclusion

The UnityPower's 3,200mAh battery added 4 hours, 55 minutes of extra juice to our dead iPhone 6 during our LTE video streaming test, until the iOS 20-percent battery alert appeared. For testing, the iPhone's screen brightness was set to max, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were both turned off. The UnityPower is a good battery case for the price but not for protection. You're paying for a better balance of battery performance and shock-protection.

Features

  • 3200 mAh battery
  • Lightning connector
  • Micro USB port
INCIPIO Battery Case:

PROS

CONS

BOTTOM LINE

Good battery performance. Less expensive than the competition. Premium look and feel. Headphone adapter included.

Doesn't offer much protection for your iPhone 6. Shiny surface on bottom smudges easily.

The Incipio offGrid Express battery case is a solid performer, especially for its relatively low price tag. But you'll need to look elsewhere if you want any sort of protection for your iPhone 6.

Design and Features:

The 6.1-by-2.78-by-0.55-inch (HWD) offGrid Express doesn't add as much bulk to your iPhone 6 as separable two-piece battery cases. The offGrid Express has a two-piece design similar to the OtterBox Resurgence, where the battery section contains all the essentials, and a bumper frame fits over your iPhone and secures it to the battery section. Like most other battery cases, the offGrid Express comes in a smooth, black rubberized plastic, which has a premium look and feel. The battery case's bottom has a shiny surface, which helps differentiate the offGrid in terms of design, but it's a veritable fingerprint magnet. Five white LEDs shine through the glossy finish to indicate battery status. Incipio doesn't boast about the offGrid Express's protective qualities because it doesn't really have any. There's no padding or shock protection to speak of, and a drop test from about five feet (sans iPhone) revealed that the offGrid Express's frame would come off quite easily if the case hit the ground on its corner.

Performance and Conclusion

With its 3,000mAh battery, the offGrid Express gave our depleted iPhone 6 4 hours, 35 minutes of LTE streaming time until iOS 8's 20-percent battery alert popped up. Like all our previous battery case tests, brightness on our iPhone 6 was set to maximum, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were turned off. The offGrid Express by Incipio will give your iPhone 6 a considerable battery boost when you need it most. But don't expect it to protect your iPhone 6 from shocks and impacts

Features

  • 3000 mAh battery
  • Light Weight
  • Micro USB port

Looking for a battery case that won’t break the bank, and offers roughly 100% more battery power than the built in battery of the iPhone 6? The ACTIV is a nice option, and works really well.

ACTIV case for the iPhone 6 is so convenient to have. I don’t have to plug the phone into the wall just to charge it up. This is a case that is especially important for iPhone users that use their phone for just about everything. Running apps, checking emails, Facebook, texting, browsing, shopping, and calls can be a load on the iPhone 6 battery

ZAAP ACTIV battery case is great and provides enough power to charge my iPhone 6 for about 125% in my recent test. The feels great to the touch and the matte surface does not attract finger prints. Great product ZAAP, good job!
